All of the pieces of work that I have uploaded, I have created in response to briefs set by my tutor at Bedford college where I am currently studying for the BTEC National Diploma (except ‘flag cushions’). I am really enjoying the course and would love the opportunity to deepen my understanding within the subject. I am very enthusiastic individual and I always try my best at any task I have, I think that Graphic Design BA(HONS) at Manchester Metropolitan University would suit me really well because I am very confident and I try to use that in my work, I try to stand out from the crowd, make my mark. I have a very mature attitude and know that student life in a big city would be a brilliant experience for me as it would allow me to become much more independent.

Pastel Drawing

This is the outcome of a drawing activity I participated in, I was required to draw small objects inside a matchbox at 800%. I chose to use pastels, and to draw a key, hinge, button, hair clip and a peg.

Snake Book

This brief was to create and abstract image using newspaper/magazine clippings and then give the image a purpose. I decided to create a ladybird book cover about greek mythology out of my image. The reason being that it reminded me of the greek myth, Medusa, and I wanted to show this in the form of a book.

Personalised Stamps

The brief for this project was to create a set of personalised stamps. What I chose to do with this brief, was to create a set of envelopes that the stamps can be applied to.

Lucida Bright

I have created a book which explains a little about the font Lucida Bright, it also shows the many aspects of the font. I have included every letter from the alphabet, each number from 1-10 and all the common punctuation marks. I have also included the ligatures.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

The brief for this piece requested that I re-create a film poster for a new audience. The film I chose was Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and I decided to aim it towards a male audience. Keeping reference to the car, I created the number plate and to represent the 'Bang Bang', I had it shot with a genuine gun. The tagline I have used is a quote from the original film.

Train; tickets

This piece was from a brief titled 'special object'. I was asked to pick something that meant something to me and the then choose a way to communicate the story behind the object. I chose my train tickets, which signify my growing independence. I have created a train out of my train tickets that looks child like to represent the beginning, starting out completely dependant and as the words progress, as did my independence

Train Line

This was in response to the same brief as 'Train; Tickets'. In this piece however I chose to re-create my local train route into London as and turned it into the journey I took from being a child and dependant to being an Adult and independent.

Flag cushions

Here is an example of my interest in interior furnishing.

Twig alphabet

This brief required me to use any materials available to create a type face, I chose to use twigs from a tree. To continue the notion of nature, I have used a poetic piece by Alexander Pope as an example of the type face in use.

Tree poem

This was not a 'briefed' project, it was a photograph I took whilst on a walk over the winter, I chose to include it because I really like the composition and colours in it. I chose to include a poem because I thought that it felt like a very poetical scene and it would bring it together to be an interesting piece.
